Niché au pied des falaises qui portent son nom, Saint Romain est un village très ancien, et riche d'un patrimoine archéologique important. Situé dans la combe d'Auxey Duresses, il marque en quelque sorte la limite nord de la Côte des blancs.
Les sols marno-calcaires du Jurassique supérieur sont particulièrement adaptés à un beau développement du chardonnay. Les vins sont d'une grande finesse, pleins de sève et de parfums.
Le climat Sous le Château est parmi les plus prestigieux de l’appellation, alliant avec vivacité des arômes de fleurs blanches, fruits jaunes aux notes minérales.

“A very calm, almost contemplative width of aroma. Mineral and clean, but still with lots of concentration. The finish is fine and acidulated – very moreish. A deliciously crisp wine.”

The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, plenty of energy and notes of lemon curd and apricot. Fine race and generosity here. This is a delicious Saint-Romain from Anne Morey.”

The 2018 Saint Romain Sous le Château, which comes from purchased fruit, has a delightful bouquet of yellow plum and light jasmine and broom aromas. The palate is quite round, slightly honeyyed ont the entry with tangerine and apricot notes, and very generous ans approachable. This will be irresistible once bottled in 2020.

A fresher nose, here touched with a little barrel cream but also a growing mineral streak. Open, bright, lovely open structure. Pretty, mineral and with citrus deliciousness.
