Volnay Pitures1er cru
Maison Morey Blanc
- Vin Rouge- Classement : 1er cru
“Bought in grapes. On the hill. This the third vintage for this
Wider, a textured width, some stony fruit. Mouth-filling but still wide flavours with a fine fresh mineral energy here – cooling the flavour. Grainless tannin in support. A much more complete wine than the Meursault. That’s Very good !”

“Medium deep crimson. The bouquet delivers a little fresher pinot than the Santenots. Brisk darf red fruit, a certain weight behind, some structure but overall good energy. I like the structure.”
“The most seamless width and depth of attractive – almost velvet-textured – aroma. In the mouth too, wonderful shape and fluidity to this flavour – I really like the shape of this – and the fine burst of floral-perfumed finishing flavour. Super wine.”
Bought in grapes, second vintage. On the hill.
“Classically and beautifully floral accented – that’s super. More structural, but with energy, with depth of flavour too – chiselled. Very dark finishing, almost a licorice here but super, forceful, properly structured wine. Excellent !”

“Notes of peonies, raspberries, plums and spices, complemented by a delicate hint of raw cocoa, introduce the 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Pitures, a medium-bodied, lively wine that’s mineral and precise, with a fine-boned, elegant profile. This is another beautiful wine from Anne Morey.”
VINOUS Antonio Galloni – Neal Martin 2020-10 90-92 pts
“The sophomore 2019 Volnay Les Pitures 1er Cru has a very floral bouquet of violet scents infusing the mixture of red and blueberry; fine delineation here. The palate is well balanced and defined, slightly grainy in texture and quite spicy on the firm finish. There is a broodiness to this Volnay that I actually quite like, but it might need longer in bottle before reaching its drinking window.”
A new wine here.
Hmm – a lovely nose again – a little more floral – the wines are singing here this morning. Finer structured – open, a nice line of flavour – I love the open nature of this wine. Very broad finishing – ooh this is sappy/vibrant and delicious – excellent wine !

The 2018 Volnay Pitures 1er cru is a new addition to Morey-Blanc, purchased fruit that amounted to five barrels this vintage. It has an attractive bouquet, a melange of red and black fruit with a discreet marine influence, nicely integrated with the oak. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a slightly lactic texture. This is very fruit-driven, juicy and probably destined to be quite approachable once in bottle. Very fine.
