Bourgogne AligotéRégional
Domaine Pierre Morey
Burgundy Report – Bill Nanson 2023-10
The Aligoté is the only bottled wine.
“A deep and fresh, clean, nose – with some implied rigour. This moves beautifully, sinuously, over the palate with pretty little points of intensity and complexity. That’s a really super finish – I love this part !”
Vinous – Neal Martin – Now, For My latest Trick Burgundy 2022 – 2024 January – 89 pts
“Bottled just before the harvest, the 2022 Bourgogne Aligoté has a delightful, slightly nutty, fumé bouquet that blossoms in the glass. The palate is well-balanced with fine weight, a texturally satisfying Aligoté that articulates the variety without inhibition. Gentle on the finish with tropical notes of guava and dried peaches. Lovely.”
Inside Burgundy – Jasper Morris 88 pts 2024 January
“Pale colour with a crisp concentrated apple nose, impressive weight and plenty of character. Very attractive balance with an attractive lift behind. Lovely aftertaste, a classic and a treat.”
The New Wine Review – Christy Canterbury MW 89 pts
“This has a lovely, open nose of fresh herbs, cantaloupe, honeydew melon and hay. Compact at the core, there is excellent, lively acidity and a lacy, lingering finish. Exceptionnally, the old(est) vines typically included in this cuvée were excluded in 2021 as they were separated out for a cuvée hommage for Becky Wasserman, who passed away during (just before) the harvest season. Anne feels that inox is too col a medium fo Aligoté, so she tyîcally puts about 20% in older barrels (and not inox at all).”
Inside Burgundy – Jasper Morris 86 pts 2022 December
“Pale colour with a strong apple flavour to the nose. Strict in style, with tension but not great weight though. Quite a pretty finish.”
The New Wine Review – Christy Canterbury MW 90 pts
“This is wholesome and chewy despite its low, 12% alcohol. Almond flour dusts the nose while sweet Meyer lemon tingles the fruit core. There is excellent energy, reverberating freshness and scintillating minerality. There are lot of old vines here, and this cuvée is known to age well for 20-plus years.”

Burgundy Report – Bill Nanson 2022-06
“A slightly savoury sweetness to these aromas. Mouthfilling, lovely mouthwatering style – a serious mineral wine and growing with intensity in the finish. Very fine and intense in the finish – brilliantly long – for keeping !”
Bottled mid-August (2020)
“A broad nose, high-toned, faintly spiced too. Mineral, mouth-watering rather serious for aligoté but opens and keeps growing in interest. The finish is excellent; wide, lots of highlights. Super but keep this for a year or two before broaching.”
The Wine Advocate – William Kelley 2021-01 88 pts
“The 2019 Bourgogne Aligoté reveals aromas of crisp white peach, green apples, flowers and beeswax, followed by a medium to full-bodied, bright and lively palate that’s fleshy but incisive. This has turned out nicely and should offer fine aging potential.”
VINOUS Antonio Galloni – Neal Martin 2020-10 86 pts
“The 2019 Bourgogne Aligoté has an attractive orange pith and peach skin nose. The palate is well balanced and quite fat in the mouth with tropical tones and a touch of crème brûlée sweetening the finish. Drink over the next couple of years. “
Bottled three weeks before my visit, the 2018 Bourgogne Aligoté reveals notes of waxy citrus rind and green apple, followed by a medium to full-bodied, taut and chalky palate. I suspect that as it unwinds in bottle it will make my score seem conservative.
Special Report 2018 Burgundy Scores – Tim Atkin 2019-10 88 points
“Bottled just before (and not after, correction Morey), the 2017 Bourgogne Aligoté, from vines within the Meursault appellation, has a gorgeous lemon curd and honeysuckle scented bouquet with touches of nutmeg. The palate is well balanced and genrous to the point where you would not think is is raised in 85% stainless steel (tiled concrete correction Morey), the rest in used oak. It just misses a little substance on the finish, but otherwise this is a lovely Aligoté.”
Burgundy Report – Bill Nanson 2018-10
All the domaine’s regionals come from the commune of Meursault. Bottled just before the harvest.
“A nose that starts tight but opens more and more. Hmm, not a simple aligoté, texturally touched by tannin, complex, faintly spiced. A savoury wine, deliciously so – bravo!”
Robert Parker Wine Advocate – William Kelley 2018-10 88 pts
The 2017 Bourgogne Aligoté is showing even better than it did a year ago, opening in the glass with scents of lemon oil, crisp green pear and fresh pastry. Medium to full-bodied, chalky and incisive, it’s tightly wound with a promising future.
“A golden impression, to the nose. Fresh, mineral and with a very nice silky texture. Really very mineral and quite interesting – citrus acidity. Yum !”
Decanter Magazine – William Kelley 2016-10
“More of the Morey Aligoté was vinifed and raised in used barrels than usual, as low yields meant the casks were sitting empty. Aromas of green apple, lime and beeswax precede a juicy, crisp wine which ages nicely.” 87 points
14/20 Coup de Cœur – “Cet Aligoté chardonne sous ses airs de fleurs blanches et de zestes d’orange.”
BURGUNDY REPORT – Bill Nanson 01/2016
“Wide on the nose with good freshness. Fresh, lithe, citrus-infused flavour. A fine aperitif – perhaps more. Some agrumes flavour too as it grows in the mouth.”
WEIN PUR – Gerhard Mayr 08/2016
“Der weingarten liegt vollständig in Meursault. Citrus und Grapefruit in der Nase, florale Anklänge. Trocken, mittlerer Körper, vibrierende Säure, anregend.”
“Citrus, green apple and pear notes jump from the 2011 Bourgogne Aligote. I especially like the way the openess of the vintage and the inherent brightness of Aligote play off each other there. This is a terrific entry-level wine from Pierre Morey.”
“The 2010 Bourgogne Aligote is racy, open and generous. This is an especially inviting Aligote loaded with class and personality. A seamless finish rounds things out in this hugely attractive, entry-level Burgundy.”
“Vibrant estery and appley aromas. Very pleasant.”
