Aloxe Corton Clos du Chapitre1er cru

Maison Morey Blanc

- Vin Rouge
  • Classement : 1er cru
Patience...

Burgundy Report – Bill Nanson 2024-11

“Also a depth to this aroma and it’s almost silky – that’ s even more inviting than the Epenots. Large, fluid, a velvet frame to the tannin – extra finishing depth and width – almost creamy – a beautiful wine.”

Burgundy Report – Bill Nanson 2023-10

“A different, darker fruited, style – but with an implied silk. A different structure, larger scale too, the tannin is present but without grain but then an impressive burst of different style finishing – certainly for keeping a year or three before attacking but still a lovely wine – and clearly more Corton than Meursault !”

The Wine Advocate – William Kelley 2021-01   90-92 pts

“Firmer than Anne Morey’s wines from Volnay and Pommard, the 2019 Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Clos du Chapitre is nevertheless unusually elegant this year, delivering scents of cherries, plums, spices and loamy soil, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively and mineral profile.”

Burgundy Report – Bill Nanson 2020-12

“A more airy, fresher nose, a little floral too. Supple, wide, depth of flavour. Coffee in the finishing flavours, small waves of finishing flavour not quite juicy as there’s a suggestion of tannin that dries the finish but that will quickly fade. Delicious all the same.”

VINOUS Antonio Galloni – Neal Martin 2020-10 90-92 pts

“The 2019 Aloxe-Corton Clos du Chapitre 1er Cru is compact on the nose, backward and broody at first, opening to reveal blackberry, bilberry and quite potent floral (iris and peony) aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy ripe tannins. A more generous cuvée among the Morey range, delivering a caressing, quite plush but structured finish that leaves a tingle of spice on the tongue. This is a fine Aloxe-Corton packed full of flavor.”

Burgundy Report – Bill Nanson 2019-11

A tighter nose but obviously concentrated – pure ripe fruit in the middle. Open, more structural, round flavours – a little Corton – a wine that grows and grows, filling all the small parts of your palate – growing deliciously – tons of potential here – maybe bravo !

Vinous Antonio Galloni – Neal Martin 2020-01   90-92 pts

The 2018 Aloxe Corton Clos du Chapitre 1er cru is a cru that Anne Morey said was difficult to place within her portfolio, but it is certainly worth seeking out. It has a light, slightly tertiary bouquet that just needs a little more intensity to accentuate the licorice-tinged cassis fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet core of black cherry ans boysenberry fruit and, again, hints of licorice. The well-defined finish lingers in the mouth. Excellent.

BETTANE ET DESSEAUVE Guide 2019

Decanter Magazine – William Kelley 2016-10

“A brooding, sauvage bouquet of cassis, red plum, rich soil and chocolate is the prelude to a full-bodied, frim wine framed by some serious savoury tannins and juicy acids, though this remains quite refined for a young Aloxe-Corton : watch it blossom with a decade in the cellar.”  92 points

BETTANE ET DESSEAUVE Guide 2017

Jancis Robinson 2016-11

“Very pure nose. Etched and edgy. Lots of fine tannin on the edge. Bone dry and pure.”  16.5/20

BETTANE ET DESSEAUVE Guide 2014

The Burgundy Briefing – Sarah Marsh MW – Winter 2013

“This is punchy, bright and slighty spicy. It has plenty of energy.”

Burgundy Briefing – Sarah Marsh MW

“This is bright and pure and lifted. I like the tannins here, fine and light. Splashing red summer berries, notes of ripe raspberry. An energetic, pure and bright wine. It has both lightness and elegance. The finish is lovely… Vezry good indeed.”

BETTANE ET DESSEAUVE Guide 2012

Burgundy Briefing – Sarah Marsh MW

“Very straight and immediately mineral on the attack. Crundy red cherry fruit. Good firm tannins. Grippy savoury minerality in the middle. Tension on the finish. I like the sappyness on the finish. Particularly good.”

Burghound.com – Allen Meadows

87-90 –  “There is good energy and fershness to the detailed, supple, and agreeably intense flavors that end with an austere, distinctly firm and midly rustic finish. I like the depth and punch and if this can flesh out with a few years of bottle age, it could merit the top of my predicted range.”

Burghound.com – issue 35

88 – “A pretty and relatively high-toned nose of raspberry and red cherry with subtle earth notes…”

WINE & SPIRIT – October 2009

91 points – “Very Aloxe in its simple, silken length of flavor, this is a wine that can be enjoyed now or ten years from now.”

BETTANE ET DESSEAUVE Guide 2011

WINE ENTHUSIAST – March 2008

91 points –  “Revealing rip fruit, touches of wood and firm flavors… It evels in this fruit, all red berries and fresh acidity.”
