MeursaultVillage
Domaine Pierre Morey
- Wine ホワイト- Classification : Village
- Area (ha) : 0.86
- Average year of plantation : 1986
- Grape variety : Chardonnay
Les Forges : in Monthelies's direction, not deep soils, sprinkled with little stones and gravels.
Les Pellans : south part of Meursault, near Meursault Charmes premier cru, au sud de Meursault, next to Puligny-Montrachet, gravely soils.
Les Chaumes de Narvaux : very stony soil, situated between Les Narvaux and Blagny, at the top of the slope.
Usually, Meursault Pierre MOREY comes from blending of these 3 lieux-dits, giving a well-balanced and typical wine from Meursault : dry and mellow at once, ample, racy and fruity.
Tasting notes
“3 climates as usual, all harvested and pressed separately; Pellans, Chaumes de Narvaux and Forges near Auxey.
“A Meursault nose full of white flower complexity. There’s impact and a little structure but also a classy chiselled middle flavour – juicy here – a large and very, very, impressive wine – simply super !”
“3 climates as usual, all harvested and pressed separately; Pellans, Chaumes de Narvaux and Forges near Auxey.
Needs a little air. Freshness and purity for sure. I really like the shape of this in the mouth. Mouth-watering and fine textured. Again a wine that bursts forward with finishing intensity and impressive length.”
Also malo underway. 3 climats, all harvested and pressed separately, Pellans, Chaumes de Narvaux and Forges
“The nose is obviously not finished. A little larger-scaled, silky, depth of flavour, proper ginger-spiced middle complexity – and long finishing – this could be a great villages, it needs just a little zip in the first flavours when finished.”
VINOUS Antonio Galloni – Neal Martin 2020-10 89-91 pts
“The 2019 Volnay Les Santenots 1er Cru has a really beautiful bouquet of pure dark cherry and boysenberry fruit that bursts from the glass. The palate is tight and less expressive than the nose, but there is certainly good depth and grip. The muscular finish suggests that this will need 3–4 years in bottle.”
Three parcels, Pellans, Chaumes de Narvaux and Forges
Composed, understated, classic Meursault ginger spice touched with aromas of flowers. Open, pure, classy wine – deliciously complex, perfectly Meursault. Delicacy, purity but intensity – the finish with a certain sizzle – bravo !
Decanter – Tim Atkin 2019-10 93 pts
“Vitality is the word that Anne Morey uses to describe her 2018 whites and this village Meursault bears her out. Combining fruit from three parcels, aged in one-third new oak, it shows the restraint and balance that are hallmarks of the domaine’s style, with pithy focus, stone and citrus peel notes and a leesy mid-palate texture.”
The 2017 Meursault is showing very well from bottle, opening in the glass with an incipiently complex bouquet of fresh pear, hazelnuts, white flowers and crushed chalk. Medium to full-bodied, tensile and incisive, it’s serious and tightly wound after bottling but displays fine depth at the core and a long, energetic finish. I’m happy to have a case in my cellar.

Three parcels, Pellans, Chaumes de Narvaux and Forges
“A modest floral accent to round and inviting aromas. More incisive and direct after the Bourgogne – there’s extra focus her. Melting flavour over the palate. Excellent again, beautiful texture and finishing flavour and length.”
BETTANE ET DESSEAUVE Guide 2019
17/20 – “Dégusté sur fûts, précis, droit, franc il a une longueur saline infinie. Élégance de lappellation et du millésime. “
“One of the benchmarks for the appellation, Morey’s 2015 Meursault offers up a beautiful bouquet of Anjou pear, confit citrus, mint and oatmeal. On the palate the wine is glossy, concentrated and deep, with a taut core of acidity and extract. As Anne Morey remarks, the domaine makes vins de garde, built for the cellar, so give this five years at the very least, and preferably ten, to unwind.” 92 points
Burgundy Report – Bill Nanson 2016-11
“More depth, some ripe yellow fruit, faint spice. Supple, some richness, an acidity slowly grows and adds energy – it’s not there at the start, but it finishes in a super way. Lovely wine…”
“Lithe a hint of muscle, fine acidity and a good line of flavour here. nicely mouth-watering, very good villages. Really a lovely reprise of citrus fruit in the long finish too.”
BETTANE ET DESSEAUVE Guide 2017

87-90 – “There is enough reduction present to knock down the nose but there is good freshness and verve to the attractively voluminus flavors that possess a seductive mouth feel before concluding in a dry, clean, linear and very clean finish of solid depth and length for a villages level wine.”
Bourgogne Aujourd’hui – n°109 15/20
17/20 – “Étonnante pureté de style, notes de fleur de vigne de grand cru, grande énergie, tension magnifique, raisin supérieur, grande suite en bouche, magistral : il est rare de trouver des villages de cette trempe ! Mais c’est un 2009 !”

Winter 2013 – Tasting Summer 2013
Score 16.1 – “Just such a ripe character in 2009; glorious golden aroma. This is gorgeous now for the fruit, which is ripe and generous. Rich with freshness. More complex in the nose as it opens. Leave it a bit, less overt and more interesting. This wine has great ageing potential.
Winter 2013 – Tasting Summer 2013
Score 16.1 – “Nutty, tense and vertical. This is very intense and compact and has a strong core which powers onto the finish. Not purity, but minerality and terroir in this vintage. It has a savoury minerality and sapidity.”
89 points – “Peach and citrus fruits on the musky nose, along with a suggestion of hazelnut and some smocky reduction. Round and ripe but fresh…Excellent village wine”
Wine Enthousiast – Roger Voss – July 2010
91 points – “A wine that starts with ripe citrus flavors, then moves easily into soft richness as the spicy wood and sweet peach flavors come trough strongly. The wood is dominant, but not excessive. Full, ripe and still young.”
88-91 points – “The blend should make a very strong village wine”.
The Wine Guide – Andreas Larrson
My Top Picks – “Floral and chalky nose with hints of yellow fruits, good freshness, still young and firm, well-structured and pure with minerally fruit, long to very long finish, fine potential.”
