Charmes is the largest Grand Cru in Chambertin, covering over 27 hectares. The soil is composed of dark brown earth with silt and Bathonian scree in the upper part, while deeper layers consist of Bajocian limestone from the Jurassic period, rich in fossils.
With a bright morello cherry-red hue, this Grand Cru boasts an exceptionally elegant and silky texture, combining the subtlety and complexity of raspberry and redcurrant, sometimes evolving towards stone fruit and spices. The tannins are harmonious and refined, offering great delicacy and beautiful complexity. Its voluptuous flesh ensures excellent aging potential.
