Aromas of this wine remind little black fruits like blackcurrent, blackberry, blueberry and tannins are racy, straight, and robust.

“Firmer than Anne Morey’s wines from Volnay and Pommard, the 2019 Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Clos du Chapitre is nevertheless unusually elegant this year, delivering scents of cherries, plums, spices and loamy soil, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively and mineral profile.”

“A more airy, fresher nose, a little floral too. Supple, wide, depth of flavour. Coffee in the finishing flavours, small waves of finishing flavour not quite juicy as there’s a suggestion of tannin that dries the finish but that will quickly fade. Delicious all the same.”

“The 2019 Aloxe-Corton Clos du Chapitre 1er Cru is compact on the nose, backward and broody at first, opening to reveal blackberry, bilberry and quite potent floral (iris and peony) aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy ripe tannins. A more generous cuvée among the Morey range, delivering a caressing, quite plush but structured finish that leaves a tingle of spice on the tongue. This is a fine Aloxe-Corton packed full of flavor.”

A tighter nose but obviously concentrated – pure ripe fruit in the middle. Open, more structural, round flavours – a little Corton – a wine that grows and grows, filling all the small parts of your palate – growing deliciously – tons of potential here – maybe bravo !

Vinous Antonio Galloni – Neal Martin 2020-01   90-92 pts

The 2018 Aloxe Corton Clos du Chapitre 1er cru is a cru that Anne Morey said was difficult to place within her portfolio, but it is certainly worth seeking out. It has a light, slightly tertiary bouquet that just needs a little more intensity to accentuate the licorice-tinged cassis fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet core of black cherry ans boysenberry fruit and, again, hints of licorice. The well-defined finish lingers in the mouth. Excellent.
